Five interesting facts about labradorite:
- Geological Origin: Labradorite is a feldspar mineral and belongs to the plagioclase series. It was first discovered in Labrador, Canada, hence its name, but it is also found in various locations around the world, including Finland, Madagascar, and Norway.
- Luminous Phenomenon: One of the most distinctive features of Labradorite is its iridescence, known as labradorescence. This optical effect causes the stone to display a dazzling array of colors, including blue, green, yellow, and orange, when light hits its surface at certain angles.
- Metaphysical Properties: Labradorite is highly regarded in metaphysical circles for its protective and transformative properties. It is believed to shield the aura from negative energies, enhance intuition, and promote spiritual growth and self-discovery.
- Symbolism: In Inuit folklore, Labradorite is said to have fallen from the frozen fire of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) and carries the mystical energy of this natural phenomenon. It is often associated with magic, intuition, and the unseen realms.
- Chakra Alignment: Labradorite is commonly associated with the third eye chakra, located between the brows, and the crown chakra, at the top of the head. It is believed to help open and balance these energy centers, facilitating clearer intuition, insight, and connection to higher consciousness.
